It is stupid that they’d have you speak at a conference and have you pay for the trip there. Too bad about the loss of your wedding ring. Guess it couldn’t be helped though, under the circumstances.
I hate to fly, and your description of your flight isn’t changing my mind about it.
That conference seems to have had some serious organizational issues, but, at least they put you close to where the beer was.

I had a similar experience on a 737 out of Midway airport in Chicago. Midway is well known for it’s very short runway. You kind of just drop onto the runway.
I lost a wedding ring when packing boxes closing a Circuit City location. A tech in another state found it while unpacking the equipment.
